UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development
IWAKI contributes on important goals
Several targets in the UN’s global goals affect IWAKI’s scope. Target 6, 8, 9 and 12 are mentioned below.
Water quality and wastewater(Clean water and sanitation – SDGs no. 6) In Denmark we utilize the groundwater, but it is indisputable that clean water is a scarce resource and something that we must protect. IWAKI’s pumps and complete solutions are widely used in connection with water and wastewater treatment, which is mentioned in paragraph. 6.3. IWAKI’s solutions ensure a professional and safe handling of the chemicals used in water and wastewater treatment. Target 6.3 ”By 2030, improve water quality by reducing pollution, eliminating dumping and minimizing release of hazardous chemicals and materials, halving the proportion of untreated wastewater and substantially increasing recycling and safe reuse globally.” |
Working Environment Focus(Decent work and economic growth – SDGs no. 8) Although we in the Nordic countries generally can boast of very good working conditions, it is an area that still requires attention. In the UN Global Goals target 8.8 the safe and stable working environment is mentioned, which of course must apply to every workplace… also in Denmark. The 100% tight magnetic drive pumps and the complete dosing and process solutions makes an essential contribution to safety in the workplace for both personnel and the environment. Target 8.8 ”Protect labour rights and promote safe and secure working environments for all workers…” |
Clean and environmentally friendly technologies and processes(Industry, innovation and infrastructure – SDGs no. 9) With the new and innovative solutions from IWAKI, customers are ensured optimal technologies and processes that enhance the companies’ ability to contribute to sustainable development. Section 9.4 focuses precisely on the use of clean and environmentally friendly technologies and processes. Target 9.4 ”By 2030, upgrade infrastructure and retrofit industries to make them sustainable, with increased resource-use efficiency and greater adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies and industrial processes, with all countries taking action in accordance with their respective capabilities.” |
Proper handling of chemicals(Responsible consumption and production – SDGs no. 12) UN Global Goals 12.4 places among others the chemical area, as an important area for sustainable development. ’The responsible management of chemicals’ has for years been one of IWAKI Nordic’s main focus areas. In particular, the 100% tight magnetic driven centrifugal pumps and IWAKI’s plug & play process and dosing solutions contribute to industrial companies getting closer to the UN’s goals in ’Responsible consumption and production’. Target 12.4 ”achieve the environmentally sound management of chemicals and all wastes throughout their life cycle, in accordance with agreed international frameworks, and significantly reduce their release to air, water and soil in order to minimize their adverse impacts on human health and the environment.”. |
