Avoid chemical spillage with 100% tight pipe joints
Specialist knowledge – The adhesive is chosen depending on the application
The complete units from IWAKI Systems, which ensure safe chemical handling by encapsulating the medium, contain a number of pipe joints. Our specially trained Systems employees have solid experience with both pipes, pumps, etc. and ensures that the entire unit meets the IWAKI standard.
Here is a cut pipe, where we have used a PVC-U adhesive to ensure a 100% tight pipe joint.
The PVC-U adhesive, which almost “melts the pipes together”, has a grayish shade.
100% tight joints
At IWAKI, we use different types of adhesives depending on the specific application to ensure that the joints are 100% tight. During the quality control, the complete unit is pressure tested before delivery. In fact, you can compare the adhesive with a gasket that ensures the tightness between 2 parts.
The right adhesive is chosen according to the adhesive’s resistance to the pumped chemical. In order for the complete system to achieve the same high quality as IWAKI’s pumps, IWAKI only selects suppliers with top quality products when it comes to adhesives, fittings and plastic pipes.
The most commonly used adhesive is Tangit PVC-U, but we use up to 5 different types each with good properties in relation to specific chemicals.
For example, a DTX adhesive is selected for e.g. hydrochloric acid and chlorides due to its good resistance properties to these, while Dytex is chosen when sulfuric acid is to be pumped.
The adhesives are particularly suitable for industrial applications.
The adhesives are in fact dangerous to health, and therefore good working conditions such as ventilation, protective gloves and goggles are of course ensured.
