Product marking

If a pump is produced in compliance with the ATEX directives this will be visible on the pump type plate.

ATEX pumper mærkning

As the manufacturer, IWAKI Nordic A/S is responsible for a correct EX marking according to the regulations in the ATEX Equipment Directive 94/9/EF.

This marking is visible on the product type plate, where you eg can see in which zone the pump can be used.

Equipment category = 2
Environment = G/D
Protection level = c
Explosion group = II B
Temperature class = T4

Marking with protection level

The ATEX-pump type plates are marked with a protection class. The protection class can be devided into four main groups:

  • remove ignition sources
  • control of ignition sources
  • prevent the ex-atmosphere from reaching ignition sources
  • encapsulation of the explosion

On the type plate following is used:

Code

Protection level

b

Ignition source monitoring

k

Liquid encapsulation

c

Designed keeping in mind the safety principles

m

Cast encapsulation

d

Flame proof case

o

Oil encapsulation

e

Increased safety

P

Pressure encapsulation

fr

Vapour-tight encapsulation

q

Sand encapsulation

ia

Intrinsic safety 1 or 2 events

Ib

Intrinsic safety 1 event

Marking with temperature class and environment

On the type plate, the pumps are further labeled with the temperature class, which indicates the pump’s maximum surface temperature in operation (including a safety factor). The type plate is also labeled with the atmosphere and with an explosion group.

*: The examples in the overview are indicative.

The pumps must also be marked with any restrictions on use. If the device is labeled X, it means that there are special requirements for the installation, etc. Restrictions and conditions can be found in the accompanying guide.
